Lightcatcher ADU

Lightcatcher Carriage House is a compact accessory dwelling and garage inserted behind an existing residence in Decatur, Georgia. The project transforms a constrained urban infill lot into a layered domestic environment, combining parking, storage, a second-floor apartment, private outdoor space, and landscape.

The carriage house adds approximately 787 square feet of heated living area above a 681-square-foot garage, while remaining within zoning limits for lot coverage, height, setbacks, and floor area. A simple brick volume, restrained openings, wood privacy screens, warm lighting, garden paths, and a fire-pit gathering area create a quiet backyard presence that supports density, flexibility, and multigenerational living.
