Lightroom Fellowship Positions
The Lightroom Fellowship Program is a dynamic initiative designed to nurture emerging talent at the intersection of architecture, design, and technology. As a multidisciplinary firm, Lightroom specializes in innovative approaches to architectural design, blending cutting-edge tools like BIM, digital fabrication, and sustainable design strategies with a deep understanding of craftsmanship and environmental integration.

The fellowship offers participants the opportunity to collaborate on real-world projects that span a range of scales and typologies, from residential design to web and print graphics. Fellows will gain hands-on experience with advanced design processes, including Building Information Modeling (BIM), parametric modeling, and sustainable building practices, while contributing to impactful projects that prioritize community, functionality, and aesthetic excellence.

Fellowship Program
Throughout the program, fellows will work alongside Lightroom’s expert team, receiving mentorship in design research, project development, and construction detailing. They will also explore the firm's commitment to blending traditional architectural values with innovative technologies, fostering a comprehensive understanding of modern design practice.

The fellowship culminates in a joint project, proposed by the fellow where Lightroom shares their contributions and insights to complete the project, preparing them to lead and innovate in the evolving field of architecture and design. The Lightroom Fellowship is ideal for individuals passionate about pushing boundaries, integrating multidisciplinary skills, and shaping the future of the built environment.

Fellowship Process and Guidelines:
The selection process for the Lightroom Fellowship is a rigorous and collaborative effort designed to identify exceptional talent and align research proposals with Lightroom's mission and objectives. Applicants begin by submitting a resume and a detailed research or project proposal, which will undergo an initial review by Lightroom's leadership team.

During the internal review, the proposal is evaluated for its alignment with Lightroom’s mission, current workload, and research priorities. Proposals that demonstrate strong synergy with these goals will then be assessed based on the applicant’s qualifications as outlined in their resume. Candidates whose qualifications and experience support the successful execution of their proposed research or project will advance to a traditional interview process.

Lightroom Fellows are classified as 1099 independent contractors, which means that benefits are not provided. The standard commitment for Fellows is approximately 40 hours per week, though we offer flexibility for part-time or on-demand schedules to accommodate individual needs.

The Fellowship program typically operates on a four-month schedule, offered three times per year. In addition, some standing Fellowships are established through partnerships between Lightroom and other firms. It is important to note that the selection of Fellows depends heavily on Lightroom’s current and projected workload, and as such, a Fellow may not be selected during every cycle.

This program is an opportunity to engage deeply with Lightroom’s multidisciplinary practice while contributing meaningful research and design work to advance the field of architecture and design innovation.
